Frisson Coffee Bar @ Damansara Uptown

Monday, October 5, 2015
Thanks to Tap by Seeties I got to attend The Seeties FBIs gathering at one of my favourite café; Frisson Coffee Bar at Damansara Uptown.
I would say it was a great experience for me as this was the first time I attended a food review session without knowing anyone who’s attending the event (I was actually really nervous).
To be honest, it was my third time here in Frisson but I’ve never actually explored the café yet as I was always sitting near the glass window; for a better lighting- Instagram purpose.
So, here’s what it looks like inside.
The counter
Here's the dessert section.
I would say one of the reason I don’t mind coming back to Frisson was because they offered affordable price for their food and beverages despite the good quality of ingredients they’re using.
Plus, they even have lunch set menu which comes with drinks.
Just good for a student like me who wants to take care of my pocket yet wants to have some awesome café shots to update my Instagram.

Below is the newly introduced Frisson’s premium Italian Pasta and Affogato Series.
There’s two available offer you can get when you purchase a Premium Italian Pasta:
1.       Buy one premium italian pasta and get a free pizza (By using Seeties apps); OR
2.       Buy one premium italian pasta and get 30% off the affogato series.

Daren which is the café owner was really friendly to actually explain all the foods that were brought over to our table.
So, here’s the selection of pizzas available in Frisson.
To be honest the presentation look almost similar that I couldn't identify it, except the Norwegian Smoked Salmon ones.
The Vegetarian Pizza (RM 15.90)
Beef pepperoni pizza (RM 15.90)
Norwegian Smoked Salmon Pizza (RM 18.90)
The smoked salmon was really fresh *thumbs up*
And here’s the typical Instagram shot.
Peppermint Chocolate (RM 11)
Their hot chocolate and peppermint blended so well. Even with the rich chocolate taste, I could still taste the after taste of  the mint.

Here’s two of Frisson’s Special Hearty Meal.
Croissant Ala Fusion Chicken (RM 22.90)
I've always have a thing with croissant. Well-baked and the chicken was well-marinated with the ingredient they used.
But for this dish, I would say its better to come over during lunch hour where you could save about RM 4.
Frisson's Big Breakkie (RM 28.90)
With a lot of combination used, and the good qualities of ingredient I would say RM 28.90 was okay.
Even the bread used was rather unique compare to other cafes.

So, here’s the premium Italian Pasta selection.
Frankly speaking, I don’t take beef so I couldn't comment much when it comes to beef food selection. And I hope I didn't get mixed up with all the food names.

Beef Striplon Pramigiana (RM 26.90)
Picante Soft-Shell Crab with Creamy Tomato (RM 29.90)
This dish was quite impressive, every chili ingredient was well blended with the rosemary creamy tomato sauce (Even thinking of it make me drools).
** Don't order this if you think you can't handle the spiciness.
Garlic Basil Salmon (RM 28.90)
I would say the herb was infused properly. Salmon was really fresh as well.
Salmon on Creamy Tomato Sauce (RM 28.90)
This dish was pretty similar with the Picante Soft-shell except this isn't spicy.
The sauce proportion was nice, not too creamy.
The owner is also kind enough to let us try the Affogato series.

From top left is Chocolate Mint (RM 12.50), Chocolate affairs (RM 13.50), and Are you Nuts? (RM 14)
I ordered the Chocolate Affairs with espresso shots (You can choose either chocolate or espresso shots) and it was really really good.

Not forgotten, he also gave us this apple crumble cheesecake (Okay I got lost with the full name but it was called something like these).
The owner said it was one of the bestseller. Two cakes could just sell off within half day.
For someone who doesn't really eat cheesecake, I actually could accept these.
The cheese was just nice, not too jelak. Apple crumble was nice too!
Overall, this was all the food we were feed on during the whole 3 hour gathering.
I actually enjoyed having to gather around people who I've yet to known, to talk with café owners which I don’t usually do and to try the other food that I didn't get to try during the last two visits.

Sincerely would like to thanks Daren the café owner for having us here, and also to the community members of Tap by Seeties who accompanied us during the whole gathering session.

As usual parking here will be a headache, and the only solution to this is to park at Uptown 7 with one of the cheapest parking rate compare to the other building. You could also park at the underground parking but parking at Uptown 7 is nearer.

MACE by Coffee Chemistry Signature @ Damansara Uptown

Sunday, September 13, 2015
MACE by Coffee Chemistry Signature. Sounds familiar?
Their previous shop was called as Coffee Chemistry Signature, located in Subang but had permanently closed down and shifted to Damansara Uptown as MACE.
You can spot them just few stores beside Baskin Robbins.
And yes, this place here is two floor-ed
(Sorry did not take any photos of the shop, just food here)

I had tasting session with the Tastemakers from Burpple KL last Saturday and got the chance to try 10 dishes from the menu, desserts and coffees.
So, this will be the longest post I've ever posted.
Everything about foods and drinks, except some shots of the cafe's ambiance (I totally forgot about it D:)
The typical type of Instagram shot.
And here's the menu.
Sorry some part was quite blur. But this was the updated menu given.
Here's some shot of the drinks we had.
From the top right: Green Tea Latte (RM16.50), Iced Cappuccino (RM16.50), and Hot Flat White (RM10) in the middle.
Here's one of their 3D Iced Cappuccino.
Cute isn't?
Did ordered their signature Iced Chocolate 3D, but forgot to snap a shot of it (my bad, sigh)
And here's the food post.
I would conclude that MACE is more to a fusion type of cafe then a cafe's type.
Smoked Salmon Salad (RM 21)
Grilled chicken and watermelon lychee salad (RM 18)
I find this combination interesting.
Chicken Tortilla Wrap (RM 16)
They also have vegetarian, smoked salmon and beef bacon wrap as well.
Al Fungi Mushroom Olia Pasta (RM 16)
MACE wholeleg chicken rice (RM 21)
Teriyaki Grilled Chicken (RM 17)
Butter Milk Chicken (RM 17)
The best dish I had among the ten dishes. Tho, some might think the rice tasted weird.
Seamed fish with Chili Padi and Garlic Cream Sauce (RM 21)
There also wedge hidden below the Seamed Fish.
Personally we think the sauce wasn't strong enough.
Salmon Steak (RM 29.50)
In our opinion, the sauce doesn't really suit the Salmon. It was weird to pair up sweet sauce with Salmon.
Beef Bacon Jacket (RM 26)
The thing is, its Chicken in the inside. Just the bacon was beef FYI.
The end of food review.
And here's to the dessert.
Just a heads up, they produce their own honeycomb *slurps*
Front: Affogato. Behind: Homemade Brownies. No price available as we did not ask for the price (sorry guys)
Affogato was just affogato, but the brownies texture was quite dry for a brownie.
Cheesecake.
Same, the texture wasn't that satisfying.
And here's something which is not in the menu yet. It is still in the testing progress.
Tart dipped with chocolate sauce, coated with hazelnuts filled with Durians in the inside.
I like this better. Maybe because of the Durian?
Personally thinks that there's some room for improvement.
Some might think its not worth to have fusion Asian type of food with this pricing but apparently they have lunch set which we was told priced around RM 17 and it comes with drinks.
So, why not head over to try some of their dishes? :)
Parking might be a hectic. Do park at UPtown 7, it is cheaper than the other building and also nearer to the cafe.

My Dear KL: Let Us Feed You Project @ Thirdwave

Sunday, September 6, 2015
Few months ago, I was invited to Thirdwave new menu launch testing session. So basically what I posted here is part of the new stuff in their menu.

The menu as below:

So because there's three of us that day, we ordered three main dishes with one dessert and two drinks.
We was allowed to order more desserts and drinks, but was afraid that we couldn't afford to pay it if was asked to pay (LOL)
To be exact it was my first time attending food tasting session, so, do forgive me.
I prefer to play safe.

So here's what we ordered.
And the drinks.
Hot Premium Matcha Latte (RM 12.50), and Iced Mocha (RM13.50)
The Matcha Latte was really premium indeed. Strong taste of Matcha.
Under The Sea (RM35)
Despite the "pretty price" I would rank this dish 5 star.
Every seafood in this dish is just so fine that I wouldn't need to say anything anymore.
The Blur Island (RM29)
Honestly speaking, this dish is not my type.
Yes the ingredients used are unique, but the outcome (especially the Ajo Blanco) is too much for me to handle.
Honeyed Fish (RM 26)
This dish was just okay. Pricey from my opinion, doesn't suit the portion itself.
But probably due to the Seabass they're using.

And here's the dessert. Was very hype to try the desserts as the name of the dessert was really unique.
Was hoping that the hotcakes was in the menu, but unfortunately not.
Hey Romeo (RM 26)
I would definitely say the matcha they use is really premium indeed!
The taste is so strong. And this dessert was created indigently, using sweet, sour  yet bitter taste.
Would only taste nice if you eat all at once and not separately.
However, RM 26 is kinda over the edge.
And here's the reason why I say so.
Nice presentation, but portion was kinda off.
However, I do enjoy the tasting session.
Feel free to drop by and give them a visit. There's also other stuff in the menu, not only these.

Rimba & Rusa by Wondermilk @ Sunway Nexis, Kota Damansara

Saturday, May 23, 2015
They say "Everyday is Sunday"
Rimba and Rusa by Wondermilk at Sunway Nexis, a building beside of Sunway Giza.

Just from outside, you'll get fascinates by the interior of this cafe
And this is how it look like from the inside

There also have another floor upstairs, but I wouldn't recommend to sit upstairs as there's a kid mini play section and it will be very noisy.
Plus, not many waiter & waitress will be up there unless they're there to serve the food.

Came here twice and this is what we ordered on the first visit.
Only available daily until 3pm
From top left (clockwise): Portugese Baked Egg (RM18)
Eggs Norwegian (RM26)
The middle East Connection Labneh (RM17)
Sir Benedicts (RM20)
Eggs Norwegian
Recommend this but price is pricey compare to other places.
Portugese Baked Egg
Not the typical baked egg you'll find from other cafe.
Sadly to say this doesn't suit my taste as there's too many chickpeas and its to the watery side.
The Middle East Connection Labneh
I'll interpret here that Labneh is greek yogurt.
So if you can't accept yogurt with eggs, do not order this.
On the second time, this is what I ordered

Bello Aglio Olio (RM23)
Eggs Breakie Bowl (RM 17)
The sause is yum!!
This is how it look like beneath the egg.
With hash browns and veggie.
(Only available until 3pm)
Pineapple Roasted Baby Chicken (RM29)
Serve with generous amount of chickpeas.
Hot cappuccino at RM11 and Orange Juice at RM13.

Overall my experience here is okay.
Ambiance is nice (Try to come on weekdays, its more quiet),
Service is good. But things will get really hectic on weekends.
It's just that there's a lot of space for improvement on food- This is my opinion, you may come and have a try to judge.
If you're on budget, come before 3pm as the breakfast side is way cheaper than the other dishes.
Price could go up to RM73 for their main dishes like beef ribs.
There's also signature carrot cake and red velvet price at RM13.

Parking here at Sunway Nexis is free until 30th September 2015.
For now there's only two cafe operating at Sunway Nexis : Rimba and Rusa and Rail Canteen.
So the parking wouldn't be a problem, for NOW.
